The Benefits Of Nootropics
You already know that coffee is good for you. But did you know that drinking coffee can improve your mental state of being?
I’m not just talking about caffeine. I’m talking about having mental clarity, improved memory, and the ability to learn and process information faster. We are all constantly trying to be more efficient, optimizing our life and improving productivity. Bulletproof coffee is a popular ‘cognitive coffee’, but we’re talking about something different here.
Maybe the answer is simply coffee. But not just any coffee. The answer lies in Nootropic infused “smart coffee.”
“Nootropics are used to improve focus, motivation, memory, mood, and cognition.”

So What The Heck Are Nootropics And Why Don’t I Know About This Yet?
Nootropics are drugs. Smart drugs (1) that is. These “drugs” are meant to give cognitive benefits to the brain, i.e. they help your brain work better. Nootropics may be better classified as a supplement (2), because unlike “drugs,” nootropics are safe, protect your brain, and lack virtually any negative side effects.
Nootropics are known to enhance memory and learning ability. They can help you process information faster and improve your concentration.
The smart drugs are popular among the entrepreneurial type who need to be super efficient for 15+ hours every day. But you don’t have to be an entrepreneur to benefit from nootropics.
So Is Coffee A Nootropic?
Technically, yes as caffeine gives the brain a boost. But the coffee we are talking about today takes it a step further.
We are starting to see more and more people combine the idea of brain improvement with the daily delight of coffee. By adding specific compounds to coffee, we get a beverage that sharpens the mind, makes us more effective and provides longer lasting energy rather than a drink that simply helps us wake up.
Are You Telling Me To Take Drugs?
No, I’m simply telling you that you can find coffee that actually makes you smarter, efficient and more focused. Nootropics are completely legal, just like the drug “caffeine.”
“As well as improving your ability to learn and recall, a nootropic also aims to help you focus and think more clearly.”
On top of being totally legal, they are virtually non addictive. They can also be completely natural, though not all nootropics are. Many are man made chemicals. But just because they are man made doesn’t mean they are bad for you.
Or in case, you’d like to have coffee and relax and the same time, these CBD coffee beans can help you with that.
How To Pick The Right Nootropic Coffee
Now that you know what nootropics are and why you should try them for yourself, how do you go about picking the right nootropic infused coffee?
There are different options for nootropic infused coffee – whole beans, ground or even instant – all for differing preferences of people.
There are different options for nootropic infused coffee – whole beans, ground or even instant – all for differing preferences of people.
Do you prefer to buy whole bean coffee or do you need it ground? What about instant coffee? It might not taste as good, but if you’re only in it for the brain benefits, that might just work for you.
Would you prefer to brew your own coffee and simply add in a dissolvable powder full of nootropics? If you are really particular about your coffee, this might be best option.
If you can answer these questions, it should be pretty easy to decide which coffee to try. There aren’t a ton of options yet for coffee that comes preloaded with nootropics, but here’s a list of the some of the best.

1. Kimera Koffee
Things we liked:
- Natural ingredients
Things we didn’t like:
- There is no option for whole bean
- Most expensive option
Kimera Koffee is one of the most popular smart coffees. Their main product is a 12 oz bag of ground coffee (currently it does not come whole bean) with 725 mg of brain vitamins. The ingredients found in Kimera’s ground coffee are all natural amino acids typically found in foods but are hard to get from diet alone. These include Alpha GPC, Taurine, DMAE, and L-Theanine.
When drinking Kimera, you can expect an increase in your energy levels, increased focus and concentration, and even enhanced athletic performance – all without the jitters that might come from regular coffee.
Kimera uses coffee grown in the Dominican Republic and adds 4 amino acids to it. What this means is that the caffeine content in Kimera should be relatively similar to the caffeine content of a regular cup of coffee. It’s the effect of the caffeine that is different.
This coffee will keep you from the dreaded “caffeine crash” as the added compounds extend the boost in energy and keeps away the jitters and increased anxiety commonly associated with too much caffeine (though that doesn’t mean you can drink 5 cups of this and be fine- moderation is always key).
Is Kimera Koffee vegan? Yup.
I’m sold, where can I buy Kimera brain enhancing coffee? You can buy their coffee directly from Amazon or you can get it from their website (3) as well.
2. Kimera Koffee Dark Roast
Things we liked:
- Same as above, but a dark roast
- Boosts energy, focus and concentration
Things we didn’t like:
- There is no option for whole bean
Another one of Kimera’s offerings is their dark roast coffee which was previously known as their Jujimufu blend.
What the heck is Jujimufu? It’s their dark roast version of their brain enhancing coffee. This coffee contains the same 4 natural amino acids found in their regular coffee. This coffee is grown in Brazil and comes pre ground.
This is literally the same coffee with the same benefits, the only difference being the roast level of the coffee. So if you are a fan of dark roasted coffee and are hoping to take your brain game to the next level, I think you have just found what you are looking for.
3. Bulletproof Coffee
Things we liked:
- Whole bean or ground
- Grown organically
- Grown at high altitudes on single estates in Guatemala
Things we didn’t like:
- The actual coffee does not come with nootropics. You have to make the mixture (oil and butter) to get brain enhancing benefits.
We’ve all heard of Bulletproof Coffee before. It’s more or less the company responsible for making coffee more than just a caffeine boost, but an all around brain enhancing beverage with longer, more sustainable bursts of energy.
Whereas Kimera is coffee that you brew with supplements already in the coffee, Bulletproof is more of a recipe. The original, performance enhancing Bulletproof Coffee recipe is coffee mixed with grass-fed, unsalted butter and brain octane oil. This concoction isdesigned to keep you fuelled all day long and enhances your mental and physical performance.
Though you can, in theory, make your own bulletproof coffee using your own beans along with oil such as coconut oil, and butter, Bulletproof sources and roasts their own coffee that is ideal for this recipe and for your health. This coffee is supposedly free from many toxins and harmful substances found in most other coffees, but does not come with any nootropics.
4. Four Sigmatic Mushroom Coffee
Things we liked:
- Coffee that has all the health benefits of mushrooms without a strong mushroom taste
Things we didn’t like:
- Didn’t pep us up quite as much as regular coffee.
Mushroom coffee? Really? Yes – It’s a thing. And it’s rapidly growing in popularity.
Why? It’s just so healthy. The mushrooms we are talking about have wonderful health benefits such as boosting the immune system, reducing inflammation, and balancing stress hormones. On top of that, they can improve memory and naturally enhance cognition. So yes, mushrooms are worth consuming. But in coffee? Why not!
Four Sigmatic takes wild mushrooms and process them into highly concentrated extracts, which you can then add to coffee. Four Sigmatic comes in individual instant coffee packs, making it as easy as possible for you. And while a past review criticized Four Sigmatic for only offering instant coffee, we’re pleased to report that they now have a whole bean option too — so you can use your favorite brewing method. You can even use this coffee to make a chagaccino.
This mushroom coffee made it into our list of the best mushroom coffees. Why not also check out Home Grounds’ tasting review of Four Sigmatic Mushroom coffee here:
5. Mastermind Coffee
Things we liked:
- All natural ingredients
- Comes whole bean or ground
Things we didn’t like:
- With only 2 ingredients, you may not get all the benefits you are looking for.
Mastermind Coffee is a nootropic that blends organic coffee with Yerba Mate, a tea that is especially popular in South America. These are the only 2 ingredients, so you are getting an all natural product. Yerba Mate comes loaded with health and cognitive benefits (4).
These benefits include smooth increases in energy without a crash, and enhances memory, mood and alertness. It’s full of vitamins and minerals. Even though the tea itself has a moderate amount of caffeine, it is non addictive (unlike coffee). This blend of coffee and tea is sure to give you the boost you need without the come down that is commonly experienced by drinking coffee alone.
You can buy the coffee ground or whole bean. They also have a few other options if you don’t want the coffee/tea combo.
The Verdict
Our top choice for the best nootropic coffee would be the Kimera Coffee. This smart-boosting coffee combines all natural brain-enhancing substances that are most likely going to give you the benefits you are looking for.

Coffee is a wonderful thing and we all know it. It’s inspiring to think about a beverage that has been around for centuries and is still evolving.
Who would’ve thought that drinking coffee could actually make you smarter? Have you tried any of these nootropic infused coffees before? What benefits have you experienced from them?

FAQs
Nootropics are non-addictive drugs (5) because it contains significant benefits that protect the brain while enhancing cognitive skills, boosting brain performance, and keeps you more focused and efficient. Nootropics coffee, in particular, has options with all-natural ingredients that can give you those benefits without adverse effects on you.
Coffee is considered a nootropic because it contains caffeine (6). Caffeine is a popular nootropic that primarily enhances alertness and mood. Nootropics, also widely called “smart drugs” helps improve cognitive functions, enhances memory and brain performance. With nootropic coffee, you can get the benefit of coffee and nootropics in your favorite morning cup of joe.
Yes, it is safe to drink nootropic coffee every day in moderation. You can get the benefits of nootropics when taken daily (7) for an extended period like for a week or a month. Like a regular coffee, you can drink it every day but in moderation to avoid palpitation and hyperacidity. Also, since most nootropic coffees are made up of all-natural ingredients, it’s right for you and your brain and memory.
As a general rule, nootropics that come from all natural ingredients should not possess adverse side effects (8). However, since nootropics have been widely used as brain performance boosters, there’s a trend called nootropics stacking that may have harmful side effects to a person’s body. Stacking means combining two or more cognitive-enhancing drugs to achieve maximum results (9). This practice may significantly boost memory and cognition but may also lead to adverse effects on one’s body.
