How to Make Maple Bourbon Coffee
There are moments in life when you don’t just want a special coffee drink, you need one.
Perhaps you were made partner at your law firm or you just bought a new house or maybe, you know... it’s Wednesday.
And the weekend seems really far away.
Whatever the reason, it’s always a good time to make a delicious, boozy coffee beverage.
Mention the words maple and bourbon to most people and they get an ear-to-ear grin. Seriously.
You’re probably grinning right now.
On their own, each of these flavors is spectacular – put them together with coffee and my oh my, what a wonderful day.
What You’ll Need
The ingredients for a maple bourbon coffee are pretty self-explanatory. And you may already have many of the items you need around the house.
If not, it’s worth a trip to the grocery store!

How To Make Maple Bourbon Coffee
Step #1. Brew Your Dark Roast
A dark roast is recommended here, as it has the depth to support the taste of the bourbon and maple syrup – which both bring big flavors to this drink.
(There’s an assumption that since you are here as a part of our great coffee at home tribe, you have a coffee maker, but in case you don’t, check out this roundup here and go get yourself one!)
If you are hard core, you can also make a double shot of espresso and just add more of the cream, maple syrup, vanilla and brown sugar concoction to your cup.
Step #2. Mix Up The Good Stuff
In the mixing bowl, combine the whipping cream, maple syrup, vanilla and brown sugar. Whisk until the sugar has dissolved.
Step #3. Add In The Bourbon
Measure out an ounce of the bourbon.
You don’t want to overdo it here. It might be tempting, but don’t give in!
It can get messy really fast with bourbon. You want to maintain some decorum, right?
Pour one ounce of bourbon into the coffee in your cup.
The bourbon is another ingredient that you want to choose well. Good bourbon is a gift from heaven – and it is important that you don’t go too cheap here. If you aren’t sure what brand to buy – this video will help you make this important decision.
If you don’t drink alcohol, you can make this without bourbon. It’s not really a maple bourbon coffee then – just a maple coffee – but it’s still tasty as all get out!
Step #4. Add In The “Stuff”
Add about 1/8th of a cup of the combined whipping cream, maple syrup, vanilla and brown sugar to your coffee mug at first.
Stir it up and take a taste to see what you think.
This concoction is quite sweet (you could leave out the brown sugar if you don’t have much of a sweet tooth) – so do some testing to see what suits your preference.
Some like things a bit sweeter than others.
If you warm this slightly first, it won’t cool down your coffee.
If you are making multiple cups for guests, put the combined whipping cream, maple syrup, vanilla and brown sugar into a small pitcher and let guests pour it themselves.
Step #4a. (Optional) Plop The Whipped Cream
If you want to take it a step further, make your whipped cream and plop it on top of your coffee drink.

If you choose to top with whipped cream, sprinkle on a bit of brown sugar, drizzle maple syrup and maybe a tiny bit of bourbon across the whipped cream.
