Dulce de Leche Coffee

Dulce de Leche is a creamy caramel sauce or spread, traditionally made by simmering milk and sugar for several hours. And bringing it together with coffee is one of the universe‚Äôs little miracles. This version includes Kahlua, so this is typically a late afternoon beverage.

  • 4 cups strong brewed coffee
  • 6 oz fluid Dulce de Leche
  • 6 tbsp Kahlua
  • 1 cup whipping or heavy cream (or store bought whipped cream/whipped topping)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • chocolate for shavings

  1. Make the coffee and keep it hot

  2. Melt the Dulce de Leche and add it to the coffee. Stir until completely dissolved

  3. Combine the whipping cream/heavy cream with the sugar and whip until stiff

  4. Add the Kahlua to the coffee/dulce de leche mix

  5. Pour the mix into each cup. Plop the whipping cream on top and shave the chocolate on top of that

Dulce de Leche can be found in specialty markets (especially those with an international cuisine section) or online. It is sold in blocks, cans or bottles (which is more of a liquid form).
